CNSMD de Lyon
The Lyon Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse (CNSMDL), created in 1980, is one of the two higher education state institutions for Music and Dance which comes directly under the responsibility of the French Ministry in charge of Culture and Communication.
As a higher education institution, the CNSMDL’s main aim is to educate musicians and dancers to become the artists of tomorrow. The Conservatoire is known for its will to offer an educational project based on the highest standards of excellence and innovation, and which corresponds to the modern needs and aspirations of the students, so that they can develop their artistic practice, creativity and research in the most positive environment in order for them to best envision and prepare their professional careers.
Being the first and only French Conservatoire to offer a 1st and 2nd academic programme specialised in music composition for audiovisual media, the CNSMDL is eager to further develop its programme and share its experience at an international level with other partners within the frame of the ICSS strategic partnership.

The Conservatoire of Music in Bologna is one of the historical Institution of music education in Italy.
Besides being firmly rooted in the tradition of the classical music education, the Conservatoire in Bologna has been one of the first to establish a course in Electronic Music and then one in “Applied music”. The emphasis of the school is to stimulate creativity in each study course and to promote production, experimentation and research activities.
In the last ten years the activities in the field of electronic music and music technologies have grown very fast both on education and musical production.
The educational activity is articulated in two three-years electronic music courses (the first mainly devoted to the electroacoustic and audiovisual composition and the other to the instrumental composition applied to cinema, theatre and dance) and two two-years Master degrees focused on Sound Design and Film Music.
The production activities are also based on international and national exchanges, research cooperation, seminars and a small festival of Electronic Music called Martini Elettrico and particularly devoted to the production of young musicians.
The participation in the ICSS / InMICS project is a natural development of our activities and shows our intention to foster contacts and exchanges with other Institutional partners on the basis of well-defined purposes. Taking part in the ICCS / InMICS project means for us bringing our experience on the electronic composition for audiovisual works in order to enrich and broaden the study field in the future InMICS transnational Master.
KASK & Conservatorium / School of Arts Gent
The Royal Academy of Fine Arts KASK and the Gent Royal Conservatory constitute the School of Arts of University College Gent. It is an exceptional place where students are allowed to be ‘hors jeu’ for awhile, free from the pressures of the market and unhindered by day-to-day worries. The school aspires to be a refuge where young artists and designers can focus on their development and where they can train and perfect themselves in the artistic discipline of their choice in a serious, structured and thorough manner. In the middle of vibrant Ghent, the campuses are oases of quiet, places of concentration and dialogue, creation and encounter.
KASK and Conservatory / School of Arts brings together talented and motivated students with outstanding educators, active artists, designers and theorists in art and design from all over the world. A student can take part in just about any artistic discipline. This multitude of opportunities is grouped into four programmes – visual arts, audiovisual arts, music, drama – with each offering Bachelor’s, Master’s and Doctoral degrees.
The School of Arts stimulates research in the arts and the investigative component in the artistic process. Besides the doctoral programmes, this emphasis is already very prominent in the master’s.
The mission statement of the school defines its main tasks: development of the arts, education and research in an international perspective. It is therefore important to cooperate and network with European and international partners in order to participate in the ongoing international evolutions and actions.
Faculté de Musique Université de Montréal
Founded in 1950, the Faculty of music at University of Montréal enjoys a sterling reputation as North America’s leading French-language music teaching institution. Its reputation now extends far beyond the continent, however, borne by the shining achievements and successes of its teaching staff, its students and its graduates. At the confluence of European tradition and American avant-gardism, with a Montréal touch that contributes to its renown, our Faculty attracts and helps disseminate the talents of 700 students and 160 teachers from near and far. Myriad musical universes, from baroque to classical, contemporary and electroacoustic, opera, jazz and world music, are available to students enrolled in performance, musicology, composition and conducting, at the undergraduate, master’s and doctoral levels.
In a spirit of openness to the emergence of interdisciplinarity that characterizes today’s creative world, the Faculty of music has developed a number of innovative programs that explore digital music and technological arts as well as the links between music, art and society.Since 2005, undergraduate and graduate-level courses and programs are offered in the field of composition for screen (film, television, video game, web) and stage (dance, theatre, performance arts). As Montreal has become the home for many video game companies (with around 130 production studios), the Faculty of music offers a unique training in the art of composing for this media, including dynamic composition and integration of music and sound effets. The Faculty of music has also developed fruitful collaborations with the film studies departements at University of Montreal and University Concordia. Besides, composition for danse is a well-established practice thanks to a long-term and regular collaboration with the École de danse contemporaine de Montréal.
The University of Montréal’s Faculty of music is happy to contribute to the International Master in Composition for Screen and Stage (InMICSS) which gathers the expertise of four high-calibre teaching institutions in relation with the professional domain. This consortium offers the unique possibility to share complementary knowledge and to bring training in the field of composition from screen and stage to the highest level.
Festival International du Film d’Aubagne
The Festival International du Film d’Aubagne, organized by the ALCIME association, is dedicated to the promotion of young cinematographic creation and music composition for film.
Its main axes are to favor the emergence of young international talents, to be a place of training and creation for young authors such as directors, scriptwriters and composers and to highlight cultural diversity.
The FIFA is naturally a place of distribution which offers numerous activities which allow the public to discover more than 200 films and interact with personalities of the world of cinema and music. It has a strong educational vocation which offers a wide range of measures to awaken the curiosity of the public and develop the audience, particularly children and young adults.
The FIFA is now an essential platform for artists from image and sound, a space of awareness and training strengthening cooperation between different person needed for the creation of a cinematographic piece of art.
Fondazione Cineteca di Bologna
Fondazione Cineteca di Bologna is an internationally distinguished film archive founded in the 1960s, a full member of the Fédération Internationale des Archives du Film (FIAF) since 1989, and of the Association des Cinémathèques Européennes (ACE) since 1991.
In the last 15 years Fondazione Cineteca di Bologna has broadened its projects, activities and areas of distinction which include: film restoration, film collection, teaching programs, daily theatrical screenings, publishing (books and DVDs), a globally known restoration festival – Il Cinema Ritrovato – and five other festivals throughout the year, a library, non-film collections – photography, graphic design, art, and archives – the Chaplin, Pasolini, Blasetti, Renzi and Olmi archives.
Fondazione Cineteca di Bologna film vaults hold a collection of over 70,000 prints including 16 and 35mm positives and negatives of films restored by the archive and collections belonging to film producers, distributors and collectors, offering a representation of the whole history of cinema, from silent to sound up to the mid-1990s. Among others, the legendary film production companies Titanus and Cristaldi Film have recently deposited their collections with the Cineteca. Cineteca’s L’Immagine Ritrovata laboratory has established its reputation in the world of film archives thanks to the restoration of many masterpieces by Leone, Chaplin, Pasolini, the Lumière brothers, Visconti, Murnau, Renoir, De Sica, Fellini, Rossellini and many others. Cineteca is also a partner in The Film Foundation’s World Cinema Project for the restoration, dissemination, and preservation of cinema heritage from neglected countries.
Film Fest Gent was established in 1974 as a student’s film festival, and has since developed into one of Europe’s most prominent film events. Every year in October, the festival presents some 100 features and 30 shorts from all across the world. A range of different film programs are showcased, attracting over 130.000 viewers each year.
With its focus on film music, the festival has its own unique place in international festivals. Every year, the festival organises film music concerts, giving composers of film scores the platform they deserve.
Since 2001, Film Fest Gent has also organised the World Soundtrack Awards, the most prestigious soundtrack awards in the world. Each year, the best soundtrack composers are honoured and receive international recognition for their work. This pioneering role has centrainly had an impact. Ghent has grown into a meeting point for established and up-and-coming musical talent and ever greater numbers of festivals play soundtrack from the wings. Since 2004, even the European Film Academy – encouraged by the festival – has honoured the best European soundtrack composers.
Next to the international World Soundtrack Awards, Film Fest Gent yearly organises an entire ‘music programme’: several film music concerts (theme concerts, concerts that highlight work of 1 or 2 specific composers or silent movies with live music), film music & sound seminar (focuses yearly on the collaboration between composer, director & sound designer for a target audience of students and young professionals), film music CD recording (overview on work of 1 composer), several film music industry activities such as masterclasses, industry drinks, film music industry panels, World Soundtrack Awards Dinner, meet & greet with composers, WSA press conference.
Over the years Film Fest Gent has established a strong network of film music professionals (composers, agents, music supervisors, sound designers, publicists, teachers, professional associations, educational organisations, other film (music) festivals) into its World Soundtrack Academy.

The companies founder and president, Lucie Bourgouin, has 32 years of experience in the music business. She has worked as a music supervisor with film directors like Jean-Marc Vallée (C.R.A.Z.Y, Dallas Buyers Club), Xavier Dolan (Laurence Anyways, Tom à la Ferme, Mommy), Kim NGuyen (Rebelle) and Robert Lepage (Lipsynch, Jeux de Cartes, Les Aiguilles et l’Opium). She currently works with film, television, documentary, play and dance as well as with show directors and producers and offers them a ‘one-stop service’.
