Live edition 5th InMICS Composers Lab at Film Fest Ghent cancelled
Due to the COVID-19 situation in October, the events of the 5th edition of the InMICS Composers Lab have been cancelled at the last minute. Equivalents or replacements for the specific Composers Lab activities will be organized either online or live at one of the film music festivals in 2021, if the constantly evolving circumstances will allow.
The students of the first group will now graduate virtually. For all InMICS students, there is a closed matchmaking event for film and composition students via Zoom.
The InMICS Composers Lab started two years ago in October 2018 at Film Fest Ghent. This year the circle was to be completed as the first generation of InMICS composers were supposed to attend and graduate at the 5th edition of the InMICS Composers Lab(on 22-24 October during the 47th edition of Film Fest Ghent), as well as meet the second group of students who are ready to take over the baton. FESTIVAL INTERNATIONAL DU FILM D’AUBAGNE – MUSIC & CINEMA
The third edition of the InMICS Composers Lab was to be held from April 1st to April 5th in Aubagne for the 21st edition of the Festival and could not take place. Due to the health crisis and the restrictions touching the whole world, the partners from the festival decided to organize an online festival, over the week of the festival, from March 30th to April 4th.
Among the activities scheduled, InMICS students were able to take advantage of the programmed films available online, attend workshops and masterclasses remotely, held by guests of the Festival such as Howard Shore and Christophe Héral. The partners from the festival were also able to organize the European Market for Film Music Composition (3rd Character) by video conference. The students have met producers and directors who worked on a common project and are now looking for someone to write original scores.
KRAKOW FILM MUSIC FESTIVAL
For the fourth edition of the InMICS Composers Lab, the students were expected to be hosted at the Krakow Film Music Festival from May 26th to June 1st 2020, which was postponed to May 25th till the 30th 2021.
Despite the situation, the festival has managed to maintain some activities to prepare the final evaluations. Thanks to the great work of our partners here too, InMICS students will participate in different workshops by video conference : a group meeting with Chandler Poling (from White Bear PR) on the analysis of their portfolio, and a One-to-one session with Michael Todd (ASCAP) to put them in a real situation to present themselves in front of industry professionals.
